Knowing Numbers ≠ Getting Fleeced

By Clarence Thompson

We who are part of the Flying University Project have been very busy this past week.  It looks like at least two teaching venues will be opening up in East Portland this month, and a new teacher has joined us.  As a result, I don't have a lot of time to write a lengthy post this weekend.

But I thought I'd share a picture of something I noticed in the store today.  It's a very good example of why numeracy is so important - and why being able to quickly add, subtract, multiply and divide using standard algorithms is so important.  (Especially if you can quickly do these things in your head!)  Take a look at the parsley in the picture.  What's wrong here?  I will give the answer in my next post.
